Packaging
For this project, I was tasked to create a company and a series of three products to design packaging for. I created “neu/age”, a gender-neutral self care company offering scented soaps, essential oil roll-ons, and moisturizers. I chose to do a gender-neutral company because I wanted to challenge myself to design something that could appeal to everyone. My product designs were based on a grid, and employed different geometric shapes to create a pattern. I also used watercolor paint to add some texture in my designs. I created a logo that felt fresh and modern, which was the voice I wanted my brand to have.

For this project, I had to select a type of art supply and design the packaging for the product. I then had to construct the boxes for the products. I chose to make packaging for oil pastels. The objective for this project was to design the packaging with a specific group or individual in mind, and have the design reflect that. I chose to design my packaging with free-spirited, travel-loving individuals in mind.
My concept for the packaging was based on the phrases “free-spirited” and “on-the-go”. I wanted my pastel packs to be portable so that you could travel with them. The component was a small paper box, with a slitted platform within for the pastels to sit on. I chose different colors to represent a destination for each of the 5 different packs of pastels. I used thinned oil paint to create whimsical, colorful gradients for the outside of the boxes. I finished the designs with the names of the pack in an adventurous typeface.

The objective for this project was to design and construct a set of 10 interlocking cards, which could be built into a house of cards. I also had to create a box to store the cards. The subject matter for the cards was completely up to us, but on one side of the card, we had to include an element of typography, as well as its definition. For my concept, I decided to use some of my favorite fashion moments from Rihanna, my role model. She is known for really fun and graphic looks, so I designed each card based on the mood and color scheme of her outfit. I unified the deck of cards by featuring the portrait of Rihanna in the middle of the card.
